Richthofen emblem
Hello
Did  Manfred von Richthofen have some personal emblem (besides red aircraft if that counts as emblem) or monogram and what did it look like?Thank you |

I don't know of any emblem that he used. The markings on his planes would be his emblem in reference to the use of the red.

Richtofen emblem
Without specific reference to aircraft, one would think that an aristocratic family (anywhere in Europe) would be likely to have a family crest, coat of arms, or other heraldic emblem. Anyone aware of one for the von Richtofen family?
There are examples of other pilots in the Imperial Air Service who chose to incorporate these symbols on their mounts.

Hello!
Below you will find the von Richthofen coat of arms / crest: Richthofen – Wikipedia As you can imagine it would be a very complicated symbol on an early aircraft for identifying the pilot. So red was definitely the better choice ...  .

Richthofen emblem
In many texts on internet for emblem of WWII squadron Jagdgeschwader 2 'Richthofen' is often told to be some kind of modified Richthofen emblem.
Is this true or this emblem don't have anykind of connection with Richthofen (besides name) ? (sorry, but I couldn't put a picture or link because of forum rules) |

Forgive the offtopicness, but does anyone know why JGII was nicknamed "Richtofen" in WWII and not JGI? And why JG2 didn't take "Boelke" from before?

Das Wappen der Familie von Richthofen
Here is the Richthofen family coat-of-arms in colour.
