Could MvR's Survival Have Prevented WW2?

Considering MvR's (& WR) demise was a pivotal event in the rise of Goring's career and unfortunately to the rise of his Austrian paper hanger friend following the war, I'd be interested to hear what you have to say.

Counter-factual history...

...yes, we do engage in such speculation from time to time.

You may have tried the 'search' function to dig up older discussions on this issue. opinions are divided: some point to all the pilots who lined up with goering out of conviction or careerism. others mention cousin Wolfram vR who held a high post in the Luftwaffe. Others say that character counts more and that wolfram's example does not mean MvR would have committed himself to nazi causes. then there is our dear udet who so loved to fly and who suffered the bureaucratic in-fighting of milch and the others.

i personally like to think that MvR would have come out looking like a Rommel: duty to country first, but severe doubts about the leadership. we will never know.
