Personal markings by American pilots

Is there information or a database available of personalized "names" painted on WW1 aircraft by American pilots or crews?
I ask this because I'd like to see if it's possible to document a name thread from WW1 to WW2 to the Korean War and on to the Vietnam War. For example, tracing the name WIDOW MAKER that was painted on a WW1 plane all the way through to the Vietnam War.
I recently completed a research project myself that involved cataloging "names" that were painted on in-country Army helicopters during the Vietnam War, 1961-73. Over 2,000 "names" were collected along with several hundred photos.
