Stars and Stripes Story-confirmed?
From Stars and Stripes:
According to a June 21, 1918 story on June 7,1918 Captain Philip Browne,QMC NA-formerly of Washington DC police-a Fokker Triplane was forced down. The Enemy aviator was captured on the ground by Browne with a pair of handcuffs!
According to a Nov 22 1918 story in "Stars and Stripes" a young pilot was separated from his flight leader and ended up engaged with a Fokker. The
Enemy pilot went straight into the ground after suddenly stopping fire {his machine gun had been hit by the pilots MG fire}; the Enemy pilot was wearing a Iron Cross. No date is given except that this occurred "the third day of the battle that centered about Montfaucon".
