Here is a picture of him while he was instructing in Turkey at the close of the war. You can tell that as he added a slight bit of wieght, his facial features really matured. From this I assumed the other was him,but guess not.

I believed the previous picture was taken at the end of the war, but it does not explain the lack of awards or ribons found in it. So I guess may not be him at all.

Cigogne and Microscult have it right, if you look closely at the persons badge its an observer's or so it appears to me. So the group photo cannot be of Jacobs. Who is it then?

Also Cigogne, can you tell me who JJ is with in this photo?

Mates,
Could it be Ernst Udet?

I am not convinced. The last scan from a book is heavily retouched.
I think it's Hans Klein, Jasta 10-Leader.
Take a look to the famous film:
Steven Spielberg Film and Video Archive at USHMM -- RG-60.3351

and see how close the resemblance between Klein and Udet could be

( 7.28 of the film or 1:36 according to the site's counting)

Mate,
The top picture is of an Observer badge, while the bottom picture is one of a pilots badge.

Mate,
Hans, still looks like Udet to me, also Klein seem to have a rounder face.

P.S. Also I have looked at the Steven Spielberg Film and Video Archive at USHMM cus I requested and received a copy of it, where I can watch it on the big screen, and they look close, except IMHO Klein has a rounder face, but I still say it is Udet. tc

The Jacobs diary is a day to day account made during the war. But as for the Jasta 24 mention R. Duiven covered that when he was alive. It might help you to do a bit of research on that. Since it was Rick that published the "Tornuss, diary excerpts."

You better not refer to Rick! He was a good friend of mine, he was reliable, honest and he was able to accept other opinions. However, Rick never held one single original Tornuss notes in his hands as well as he never got in touch to one of the at least two existing J 24 diaries. I did and that's why I know what I'm talking about! Stopp telling me about Rick and Peter, please!
