I prefer Mick Mannock's.
"I hope he sizzled all the way down."

Ginger!

You read my mind.
I was just coming in here to type exactly that.

Apparently 'rare' as Richard states "that bloody Mannock".

Richard!

Ginger and I are having a bit of fun!
(MvR... I hope he roasted all the way down)
I remain, sir, unrepentant! 8)

there were other pilots between 1914 and 1918 and some of them were damn good... :

* Say what you want von Richthofen was a gentleman. It was his sort of dignity that may well have been a casualty of the First World War. I personally respect him as a fighter pilot and as a man. It is true he has become a "poster boy". Still, he is as good a choice as any and a better choice than most to fill the position.

I thought that the sort of race-baiting and other-hating exhibited earlier in this thread was confined to "Off Topic".

Dang liberals; we're always expecting the best of our brethren........

sigh

Apologies good folk...

not baiting, just joshing.

The utmost respect is paid a worthy, accomplished adversary or ally.

Achievement speaks for itself.

...there's just the little matter of the thousands of other gemmuns who shared his work assignment....

hmmmmm.

Cheers to all pilots.

Time for the voice of reason to speak once again. :
When you bunch of Hun loving buggers give credit to the blokes who killed these Prussian prawnbrains, then the SE with the big G on it will break left and head for home.
