It was the morning of April 21 1918. Just a he had done many times before, he climbed in to his Fokker Dr.I and went on petrol to find him self in his last flight.
By 11.45 pm (German time) on this day the highest scoring ace of World War One would be killed in action just to be born as a legend.
Though all the controversy surrounding his death and may vary well never be solved his skill and dedication will never be match again.
This is the day, chivalry died.
It was MvR that struck the love of aviation in a little boy’s heart some 50 years after he died and its still their.
On this 85th anniversary of his death I wish all of you a wonderful and peaceful day.

How many internet forums will still be talking about lightweights such as Bush 41 or 43, let alone Klinton, 85 years after they're dead? I suspect (or at least hope) that people will still be discussing MvR in another 85 years rather than mere politicians.
