Has Manfred ever flown/Test flown a Fokker D.VII? Has he visited the Fokker factory for a test flight on a D.VII or was the D.VII prototype not ready for flight that time in January/February 1918, when Manfred visited several factories?

According to Norman Franks and Greg VanWyngarden Mvr and Ltn Goerg von der Osten met with Fokker on January 19 at Adlershof and test flew the DVII (designated the V11) and several other designs as well. Of the designs they flew that day, they preferred the DVII over everything else. This comes from the Osprey series DVII book. Hope that helps.

aeroart;
* * *To be correct, MvR never flew a Fok.D.VII, MvR flew a Fok.V.11, not exactly the same. *He may have flown the V.18 also, it was there at the January Fighter Competion. The production Fok.D.VII was developed from the V.21.w.n.2310.
* * The V.11 and the V.18 were reworked and brought up to V.21 w.n 2310/D.VII standards and later delivered to the Luftstreitkräfte, V.11, w.n.1883,> Fok.D.VII 227/18 and V.18, w.n. 2116,> Fok,.D.VII 228/18.
* * *There were no Fok.D.VII aircraft at the First Fighter Trials in January 1918. *The Fokker V.11 and V.18 were not the same as the Fok.D.VII.
