Leutnant Otto Eckstein
Gentlemen,
I'm interested in more information on this officer, such as birth date, place of birth etc. I have some sketchy info from the O'Connor book, but that's it. Many thanks in advance.

No one has anything on him? Apparently he was with FFA 24 and was a Wuerttemberger. A photo of him would be great.

He was credited with an FE shot down on Nov 11, 1915, at 1100 hours, at Dadizeele, ds. while serving in ffla 24, flying a Fokker E type. I have no other victories for him.
Frank.

Leutnant der Reserve Otto Eckstein, Beobachter (observer), called "Ecks", was not flying a Fokker E. The victory mentioned by Frank was claimed together with Flugzeugführer Bethke.
Noteworthy: Eckstein had lost his left eye in a car accident in Flanders.

Gunnar,
Richard Dietrich, the real Fokker pilot of FFA 24, says very clear that "Ecks" is Otto Eckstein and that he got a victory together with Lt Bethke. The latter is also confirmed by archival material.
The confusion could be the result of a number of first or middle names (maybe Otto Paul ... Eckstein).

Hannes,
Do you have Bethke's first name? And any suggestions as to the type of aircraft they were flying?
I was a little concerned about adding a "new" Eindecker pilot to the list, and this clears that up. Thanks.
Frank.

Thanks, gentlemen, that's great information. Anything on his personal dates would be most welcome. Of course a photo would also be outstanding.

I think I have seen Eckstein on one of the group photographs of FFA 24 but I am not owning this one. I am also not aware of his birth data.
Frank,
I have him as "Willy Bethke" but I have no note about the type of the airplane.
