Mates,
Lets raise a toast the bravery and talent of Lieutenant der Reserve  Werner Voss, who flew west on this date: 23 Sept 1917.May his memory and skill be talked about for a long time and also to those brave RFC airman who for 10 minutes tried to end his career shorter than it did - it must have been some serious pucker power being maintained during that "dog fight" to have Rhys Davids studdering when he returned to base. That's somewhat ironic. I totally failed to make the connection on the date, even though I flew my R/C model of
Beery Bowman's SE5a today.  (And no, I didn't see a single "silver" Triplane the whole time.)  It's a model I haven't flown in some time, too. The subconscious mind obviously works in mysterious ways.  Dean in Omaha
