Talking

Mates,
Lets raise a toast the bravery and talent of Lieutenant der Reserve Werner Voss, who flew west on this date: 23 Sept 1917.

May his memory and skill be talked about for a long time and also to those brave RFC airman who for 10 minutes tried to end his career shorter than it did - it must have been some serious pucker power being maintained during that "dog fight" to have Rhys Davids studdering when he returned to base.

May they all rest in peace.

I'll drink to that, certainly one of the greatest single actions in air warfare history.

Uncanny

That's somewhat ironic. I totally failed to make the connection on the date, even though I flew my R/C model of Beery Bowman's SE5a today. (And no, I didn't see a single "silver" Triplane the whole time.)

It's a model I haven't flown in some time, too. The subconscious mind obviously works in mysterious ways.

Mate,
Yes, about 100 - 200 b/w, a lot of Voss pics, Pics of pilots he new, Jasta 10 pilot pics, etc.

I think you will enjoy it, if not only for the pics - I have tried to put everyone that I could find of Voss in the book somewhere along with a story line to go with it.

Mate,
and yes I have a picture of Werner's girlfriend and some info about the pictures. (Note: Stadt-Anzeiger Nr.39 Newspaper article - 29 Sept 1977)

Like I said it has a lot of interesting stuff in it - all compiles and boiled down from about 700+ references into one neat compact package. Information is placed so that the reader does not have to hunt, but goes to one section and everything I have been able to find about it, is there.
