147th Aero Squadron

This is Douglas Westfall, historical publisher. I write and publish books on America's history. I'm doing a book on the 147th Aero Squadron and am interested in any one who has a family history in the 147th.

147th Aero Squadron

Thank you. I'd just received some manuscript material about a month ago, and started looking on the web for those who have an interest in combat flight in WWI. Most of my core work focuses on one or two individuals, and my books are produced from unpublished accounts and photographs. All are based upon significant events of America's history. Many times I find artifacts of the period as well. Everything I've ever received has been donated to appropriate archives. For materials I am loaned, I highly recommend they be donated as well. I'm at least a year away from publishing this book and hope I can find people who know more about this period than I. Best Always, Doug.

147th Aero Squadron

grashthyp - I assume you mean the 147th as a topic.

The 147th Aero Squadron was part of the American Expeditionary Force under Brig. Gen. Benjamin Foulois, begining in May of 1918. They were part of the 1st Pursuit Group (now 1st Operations Group: 1-OG.) The 94th and 95th Aero Squadrons were assigned in March, the 27th and 147th were assigned in June, and the 185th night squadron in October. Initially based out of Toul France, the 147th first saw action flying out of Touquin, returning to Saints in July, then went back to the front at Rembercourt in September, and finally flew from Colombey-les-Belles in December, near the end of the war.

I'm doing a book from an umpublished first-person-account by a member of the 147th.

Best Regards, Douglas Westfall

Werner Voss book

Tom: Nebraska -- that's Dad's country. His father moved to Lincoln around 1909. Dad came out here at the end of WWII. I'll do OK, looking for photos, illustrations, ephemera, etc. I'm starting with 350 pages of letters from one guy. So is yours a novel, bio, or history piece? Best, Douglas

Greetings Douglas Westfall,

Wilkommen to the Aerodrome.

Perhaps you would get better exposure on this topic and your request if you move this question to either the People forum or another more appropriate one.
Just a suggestion.

Good Luck, FOKKERJ

P.S. There are several people here with great resources on the Aero Squadrons.

I found these Links through the related Theads at the bottom of this page.

WW1 1918 historical timeline for 1st Fighter Group

1919

That was fast!
Thanks for moving this.
