What he said.

Also, Raoul Lufberry - a solitary soul, introspective and humble nature but fiercely intense in combat.

Me too, but the publisher made that decision. Sorry! But you can buy it for $5 less at THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr. and if its not the best book you've read, seen or ever heard of on Frank Luke, return it in new condition and I'll personally guarantee you a full refund.

Top that.

And do I really have to tell you who my favorite ace is?

Hello Greg and George,

I´m sorry, I had technical problems to see the film correctly as I made my statement.
But, when I have seen it yet in full length without breaks and jumps, I must admit that it is really strange, how Bernert moves his “bad” arm.

What about his right arm? We see not a slight move from his right arm. Could it be that his injury was on his right arm and two authors had mistaken this!?
Hm!?

Rainer

Stephen, Like I said I would really love to read your book and I only hope that someday I will be able to. Did not mean to cast dispersions and wish you all the success I can!

Raoul Lufberry is one of my favorites, also! I'm building a 1/4th scale Balsa USA Neiuport 28 that will be #16, the plane Luf fell from.

Balsa Kits

That's cool! I have never built a balsa kit but I have built several plastic model kits. I built a 1/28 scale kit of Richthofen's tri-plane. I also have a 1/28 scale Spad. I want to make it Frank Luke's but the decals are for Eddie Rickenbacker's.

Oswald Boelcke because he was one of the first aces and one who teach many of the later aces. He was a great leader and former of the german air service and one who was not interessting in get more victories. He was one who lead and have care of his comrades.

Regards Alex

James Thomas Byford McCudden-he rose from the ranks; unlike Mannock he did not let hatred of the Enemy to dominate his fighting

Collishaw has been my hero since he took the time to talk to a brash kid (ME!) on the phone in about 1959. I found his # in the Vancouver book and called him to ask about the colour of the Black Flight triplanes. Some references said it was just a name, others said they were black, some said the fuselages were black, etc., etc.
Anyway, he told me that they did try to paint them all black, but the scarcity of black paint and enough down time to actually do the job, plus replacement parts after damage, all added up to the point where he didn't think they ever were all black at the same time.
He's been labelled a braggart and worse, but he came across as a very kindly and friendly man to me, and left an indelible impression on me that lasts to this day.
