Medals

Can u find any links for us relating to the medals Roger received, we know he received a legion of Honour and Croix de guerre and medal militaire, and we even have photos with him wearing these medals, but still cannot trace him even through the medals, any hints would be much appreciated, also not having any luck with french consulate here as even their phone lines are answered in french, also any links to french archives to obtain copies of birth and death and marriage certificates would be wonderful.

Regards Adrian

Bonjour à tous

Booth ,Roger Ronserail received French medaille militaire and
Croix de guerre + Italian military medal but as far I know, he did not receive la Légion d'honneur

Here is the French government site were you can find all men and women who received legion d'honneur between 1802 and 1977

Ministère de la culture - leonore

Query Medals

Thanks again Bruno

We found the info on the medals from the two page records you sent to us, it claims there that he did receive legion of honneur, as well as croix de guerre and medaille militaire and Italtian Medal too. We are still waiting for Translations as the disk we sent them on came up empty when mum tried to open it. We will redo and send again this week. We also have been getting help from libraries here and the war memorial, but it all takes time. Will let you know more as we find it. We are also researching Kandulski, Pegoud, and Monteil, to help us uncover the real story.

Regards
Adrian

Bonsoir Adrian

Here is an extract of the "tableau d'Honneur" with his third citation

here is my translation

"Excellent pilot. On May 18, 1916,
he has resolutely attacked a German plane and after a short battle has shot it down in flames: moments after he flew on an enemy aircraft which was approaching and obliged it to take to flight.
. already cited twice "

Newspaper clipping

You have done it again Bruno,

Can u tell us where u found that article, we are waiting for copies of the books "The sky their battlefield", and "Who was Who" in english from our local library, we will post any further info we get from them on here when they arrive. Can u also tell us where you obtained the papers you sent us, as they are very interesting. I cannot tell you just how much we appreciate all your help, we will post any new info we find also, but we are still waiting for others to get back to us. We will also be researching Otto and Pegoud to try and establish the real story.

Best Regards
Adrian

Bonsoir Adrian
The citation of Ronserail I posted is the scan of a page I bought
for you here
Archives et Culture - Les livres sur 1914-1918 - Vous voulez commander seulement la page où figure votre aïeul dans le Tableau d'honneur de la Grande Guerre (tomes 1 à 4) ?

I used the possibility to access only to the page that you are interested for ,at very low cost, rather than buying the whole book ( 4 books ! )
which includes all the citations awarded to the French military in 14-18 (le" Tableau d'honneur "the "Honor Roll")

There are many references about Pegoud and Kandulski on internet
like this one f.e.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~aur/layout/fra...als/pegoud.htm

and here
Unteroffizier Kandulski - Great War Forum

You should use the "search" facility of theaerodrome

Cordialement

Web Links

Thanks Bruno

Those links were very interesting, we will look into them further. We are also wondering what u think about all this conflicting evidence, does this sort of thing occur all the time????

Regards
Adrian
