E R Tempest

Reading an unpublished m/s by a famous early aviator, he says that Tempest died of injuries rec'd in a crash in Iraq on 17 Dec 1921. He is not of course listed in CWG as it is not WW1, but the death of this former 64 Sqn ace has eluded me. Anyone know if this is true please? Normanf

Norman

On the RAF Commands website there is a list of all 955 officer deaths in the period 12 November 1918 and 31 December 1928 as recorded in the monthly RAF Air Force Lists. Among those listed is:

Flt Lt Tempest, Edmund Roger MC DFC Died 17 Dec 21

Also from Air of Authority - A History of RAF Organisation:

17 Dec (1921) Flt Lt TEMPEST, EDMUND ROGER MC, DFC Died, 6 Sqn. Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery

Thanks Graeme. Is there a specific internet address or does one merely put 'RAF Commands' in Google? Cheers - Norman

Hi Norman

The address for the information re Tempest is:

www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313

and dates from December 2007. I'm not certain the site is still active.
