Field Reports/Combat Reports

Gents, please indulge my lack of experience with these matters....

I am wondering if any records might exist detailing the Field Reports/Combat Reports for 54 Squadron in 1918? Where might these be found?

I am keen to learn more about which airfields 54 was deployed to in September 1917 to end of the war, and what actions and activities they took part in.

Thank you for any insights or assistance (this is part of my researching 2nd Lieut RTT Waring). kind regards Tom

Tom

The information is (or at least was) available at the Public Records Office (now the National Archives at Kew). The references I accessed back in the 1980s were:

AIR 1/1566/204/80/51 - 14th Wing RFC Summary of work, June 1917
AIR 1/1566/204/80/61 - 14th Wing RFC Summary of work, July 1917
AIR 1/1566/204/80/52 - 14th Wing RFC Summary of work, Aug 1917
AIR 1/1574/204/80/70 - 14th Wing RFC Summary of work, Oct 1917
AIR 1/1829/204/202/20 - XI Wing RFC Combats in the air, May - Jun 1918
AIR 1/1829/204/202/21 - XI Wing RFC Combats in the air, Jun - Jul 1918
AIR 1/1900/204/227/9 - Air Combats, 51 Wing, July 1918
AIR 1/1900/204/227/10 - Air Combats, 51 Wing, August 1918
AIR 1/1842/204/210/8 - X Brigade Air Combats Jul - Nov 1918

There might well have been others, but these appear to be the only references I retained.

By the way, if you want all of those it will cost you over 60 quid. But if you want them, there they are.

Thanks Chock! I have downloaded the period I am researching (1918) and all months are there except May 1918, which is missing. Does anyone know where else I can get May 1918 54 Squadron's W3348 Combats in the Air Report?

Thanks everyone, Tom
