GREAT pilot portrait - he likes MvR.

I came across this photo of a pilot in full gear who obviously had his picture taken with a newspaper clipping about Manfred von Richthofen (Illustrierte Weltschau magazine). I like the natural, snapshot quality of it.

I know that I have seen his face and the crooked half-smile before but I'm not able to put my finger on it. It causes me sleepless nights so please help me- who is he?

There must be someone out there whose memory is better than mine (or who is quicker to get the right reference book out)!
