Talking Who is this Gentleman from MvR's pilots

Mates,
I have a question that has been bugging me for quite some time, and as of yet have not found a reference that points out a gentleman in a photograph with Mvr Back at Chateau Marckebeeke 30 Jul 1917.

Who was he????

There are a lot of photo's of this particular shot - but the name of the individual is lacking (they name everyone else in the picture, but) - I have seen his face on the Stephen Speilburg - MvR b/w tape but can not put a name to a face.

Thanks for any assistance you might be able to render in advance.

Hi Tom
It's not clear to me which "mystery" guy in the photo you are referring to...

Talking

Mates,
Upper Left hand side of the picture - above the propeller - his legs are dangling between two officers. Follow the black arrow to him. I believe there is a dog by his side - he is the only one who towers above everyone else.

Thanks again lads in advance.

Sorry, I didn't notice the arrow! (Must have my eyes examined). I can't I.D. him.
marc
p.s. And I can't see the dog, either!
No pilot/observer status for me!

Tom,

I think I remember him showing up in the Fokker film Greg van showed at the league seminar. You might ask him.

Hi Tom,

I don't think this photo was taken at the same time as the Fokker/MvR film, and I've never tried to identify those legs!

However, if it is the guy who "towers over everyone else", it's likely to be Gisbert-Wilhelm Groos. Check out the photos of him and see if he's your man.

Greg
