Manfred Von Richthofen's shoulder straps

I have been searching everywhere to find a photo of MVR where there is a clear view of the shoulder straps that he wore on his day to day service uniform, but to no avail. Does anyone have a photo to share with us of what his shoulder straps looked like? I am assuming that he had two pips, one on either side of the standard wing and prop device attachment, but as the old saying about assuming goes.....

Thanks for posting the link. It is possible that he did have such elaborate epaulets for his full dress uniform, but I am trying to locate a photo of him with his day to day service uniform that had the straight braided shoulder straps. Does anyone have a photo of him in that uniform where the shoulder boards are clear?

There is a photo of him, while recuperating from his head wound, showing the shoulder boards. I will look it for you and post it later (I have it at
home...)

The "A III" (Alexander III.) is smaller, and two stars (Rittmeister - Captain) where there, too. I will have a look into my digital archive later.

Sanke card views

I just quickly looked through some of my books....there are at least 2 Sanke card views of Manfred (one with Voss and one with von Hoeppner) that show him in profile where the shoulder straps are visible. The books don't provide enough detail but perhaps someone with the original card could check it and share with us what they see????

There's also a very popular photo of Manfred in profile bending and holding the snout of Moritz where his board are visible. If anyone has a clear image of this photo, that also would tell us about his boards.

Best Regards,

Alfred Gerstenberg took care of him until dog's death.

I beg your pardon, but what does this have to do with shoulder boards?
