Last picture of the Red Baron??
Afbeelding: Manfred von Richthofen en zijn hond Moritz op het Awoingt vliegveld in maart 1918, vergezeld met Löwenhardt.jpg - WO1Wiki
this was said to be the last picture of richthofen, taken the day of or the day before his death, although the captain says it's in march of 1918. true? or so (or not), which day is it? and who took it? and who else is in this picture? is it really lowenhardt?
i heard that 1 of the pilots took the picture, but richthofen was angry about it, saying something about not taking pictures or the pilot will die? or, am i thinking lothar again? i remember reading something about boelcke saying the same thing. except, of course, i see no evidence of it, i.e. the picture.

Mate,
What I have read is that MvR said," what! don't you think I'm not coming back" when the cameraman took his picture.
Boelcke had his picture taken in front of his aircraft - went aloft only to be killed in an aircraft accident.

Richard Wenzl mentions this picture in his book "Richthofen-Flieger". He says it was taken on the April morning. Richthofen had played a joke with one comrade and this man made a joke with Moritz - so Richthofen had to 'consolate' his poor dog

thats a great picture about Richthofen and Moritz! But i read somewhere one mechanic go to the plane when Richthofen start the engine and request an autogramm for his son! And Richthofen said: don't you think I'm not coming back? And sign the postcard and one hour later he was died! very said!
and in this picture: Is this Löwenhardt? :O

And I tend to believe Wenzl's account because of it's detail and the clarity of memory. That's not very scientific, but I've scoured hundreds of eyewitness accounts in various research projects and mistakes usually surface with the same sort of contradictions and errors every time. My thought is that Wenzl's account is genuine and, even if he's off by a few days, the story likely did occur very near the time of MvR's death.

Forgive me,i really think you know your stuff but
what makes u think that it´s Bodenschatz??
I´ve seen the pic in better quality and i really think he looks like Erich,
his uniform and his face from the side, all seems to lead to Löwenhardt.
Of course i could be wrong...
