Dear friend,
Alberto De Bernardi was in the Squadrons 27, 76, and 81, then became commander of Group XIII on September, 17, 1918. He received 2 Medaglie di Bronzo al Valor Militare (Bronze Medal for Military
Valour).
Happy landings
Paolo Varriale
his name is spelt Debernardi in the 1914 edition of the "Annuario Militare". Born 21st of November 1889 and commissioned as a Sottotenente in the 4th Regiment of Alpini on the 1st of April 1912.
A picture of Capt. De Bernardi's Hanriot with his Alpini insignia appears in our book Italian Aces of WW1 and their Aircraft, Schiffer Military Books.
He should not be confused with another Alberto De Bernardi, brother of the more famous Mario, test pilot, recordmand and Schneider trophy winner. This Alberto De Bernardi was a test pilot with Pomilio and was killed in flying accident on 7 April 1917.
