Alfred Williams "Nick" Carter's last victory

Hi All!

I am confused about "Nick" Carter's last victory. Reading the forum about him, it states his last victory was in May over a DRI aircraft. Can anyone confirm this? I was reading about him after seeing a panel attributed to him at the Vintage Aero Flying Museum in Colorado. The museum has a panel fabric from a DVIII which has a letter from AVM Carter stating this was his final victory.

I have attached a photo for better understanding. The letter is to Jim Parks telling him this was a souveneer from Carter's last official victory of the war. Does anyone have any information on this DVIII or who might have flown it (Or if it is even the last victory?).

Thanks!!

Fok. D.VII (O.A.W.) 8492/18 was, probably, produced too late to see front-line service ... many aeroplanes from this block went to the USA, Canada, Australia, etc.

Yavor

Carter's last victory was over a DrI on 5 June, and his penultimate one was also a Triplane. As far as I can see he never claimed a DVII at any time, they being still pretty new to the front. Probably a good story that doesn't need to be confused with facts. Normanf
