I gather that O'Dwyer was shot down by a captured Nieuport 27. It would appear that the Bulgarians had quite a number of captured Allied aircraft.

On O'Dwyer's history? John Emile Alexander O'Dwyer was the son of Dr Thomas F (b. 1842) and Henrietta M O'Dwyer (b.1859), both Irish. Thomas was Surgeon General, Army Medical Staff. The UK 1901 Census records the family as being resident at Hillside, Eggars Hill, Aldershot, Hampshire, UK. John's siblings were born at various locations in the UK, reflecting his father's military career.

I don't have his service record details to hand but gather that Captain O'Dwyer was awarded the DFC.

O'Dwyer's DFC was announced in the "Peace Gazette" of 3 June 1919, one of 146 DFCs announced on this date. There was no citation.
