No war medals for Pruett?
I wanted to ask the Forum about the awards of medals to people in service and those that died during their service. Pruett Mullens Dennett as documented in the Aerodrome site took part in slightly over 1 year serving his king and country over France and was KIA just before the end of the great war. I have searched the National Archives for information on Pruett and discovered that on his missing in action record the war office had officially stamped ( Service Considered for the grant of war medals) I understand that he may or may not have been granted any medals for his actions in service but I am puzzled as to why he would not have received the standard service medal given to all who took part in the great war? Can anyone from the aerodrome explain why this is and if he should have been awarded such medals even posthumously how one would go about finding answers to this question?
It may be that I am wrong in the understanding of the award of medals procedure and that not everyone received a medal for taking part in the great war.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
P.S. Are any members from here attending the Farnborough Air Show this year?
