Lt William Baxter Ellis

Lt William Baxter Ellis was brought down behind enemy lines on 3 July 1916. Can any one please identify the aircraft and squadron.

Hi Peter,

according to The Sky Their Battlefield he was a member of 5 Squadron and flew BE2d No. 5780 (mission to bombing trains this day).

Hi Rainer,

I am very grateful for this information. Lt William Baxter Ellis was the grandson of the first Mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne Sir Joseph Baxter Ellis.
