Greetings all:

In reference to Tom Mix cowboy actor and his friendship with Wyatt Earp western Icon and the stuff of Legends, I would like to ask the forum a question.

Specifically we know of Hughe Wynne's wonderful trestise on the early Hollywood stunt flyers Assoc. *

There is a story about Tom Mix's JN-4D (modified?), that he used to fly around souther California, back and forth to film locations. In one of those forays before 1929. *Hughe Wynne told us about a 'joy ride' that Tom Mix took with Wyatt Earp as his 'ballast in the back seat. *I have heard from a reasonbly reliable source that there were several photos taken on the ground before or after this event with the 2 legends side by side with Jenny as a backdrop.

Question: has anyone seen such a photo and do you know where it can be found?

For a start, I suspect that the 'modified' might refer to flying from the front seat, with passenger in the rear. As far as I know, Jennies were like Dh82 Tiger Moths..pilot in the back. 2 cents worth of non-answer, I know, but a reply at least. a most obscure query if I may say.

Hello Stephen-

Here is a e mail address of an older gent over on the WW1 modeling list. He is quite a fan of Jennys and may be able to answer your question. He's from our parent's generation.

A square shooter.
Am guessing he may be able to be of assistance, or at least, refer you further. Good guy.

I thought most Jennys were dual control. Otherwise, they'd not make good trainers. Of course, there were versions that were modified to carry mail. Those only had the single cockpit.

Regards,
