No 24 Squadron was one of the squadrons I looked at when I first got involved in compiling lists of victory claims, so I've got a pretty comprehensive list of claims compiled from various sources - Combat Reports and Brigade Summaries from the Public Records Office, entries in the RFC/RAF Communiques and, more recently, works such as Above The Trenches and the SE5 File.

Not all of these sources agree with each other and the Communiques are notorious for one day's activity being included in the report for the following day .

Lambert is usually quoted with 18 victories broken down as:

Seven of these victories are not mentioned in the RAF Communiques and eight do not appear in The SE5 File.

Thanks again Graeme, do you know what happened to Cowper after March 29, 1918? I know he lived to be an old man, but what did he do for the rest of the war?

G'day Baldeagle,

After April 1918 Cowper left for Home Establishment. He also joined 79 Squadron in Germany with the occupation forces.
