My wife and I are writing a book on Raoul Lufbery. We are looking for reliable sources of information on Lufbery's life before WWI - his relationship with French flyer Mark Pourpe, and his exploits during WWI with the Lafayette Escadrille and the 94th Aero Squadron.

Any assistance you can give is appreciated.

I hope you can read French, because the book you want to get ahold of is Jacques Mortane: Deux grands Chevaliers de l'aventure: Marc Pourpe, Raoul Lufbery. Published 1938 in Paris by Editions Baudinière. 319 pages. Very heavy on Pourpe's and Lufbery's relationship.

Frank.

If you read french, it exists a very good french revue (a big revue).
Its name is " ICARE - Revue de l'aviation française " n° 160 - Tome 2 ".
This tome talk about Escadrille Lafayette and a big chapter concerns Raoul Lufbery and particularly his life before WW1 and his meet with Marc Pourpe.
A very very good revue.

Thanks for providing these leads to sources. My wife is fluent in French - so we are prepared.

No assistance, but plenty of encouragement. As you can see from my pseudonym, I admire the man.

By the way, I know a Bill Jackson from Lewisburg, PA. Are you, by any chance, him?

Regards,
