Hello everyone,

I am trying to find information on the personal life of Eduard Schleich, such as facts about his childhood years, parents and siblings, marriage and possible children, along with greater detail on the facts surrounding his death (dying of illness in a POW camp in 1947 is not specific enough!). All I know is that he was born in Munich in 1888 and married Micheline Heusch sometime after WW1 (she was born in 1910, so maybe she is still alive -address anyone?). Any and all information of the non-military type would be highly welcomed.

regards

Hi,

Don't know if you have this information and if it is interesting for you :
In 1933 he became involved in the Nazi party. Became Reich Youth Leader and so was giving flying training to the Hitler Youth. Also was appointed to the Präsidium of the German Air Sport League and even was elected to the Reichstag. When the new Lufwaffe was created he returned to it. Fought in the Spanish civil war with the Condor Legion later became of Fighter Squadron 132, which would become the femous Sqdn 26 Schlageter. Became Generallt. 1 September 1943.
If you want more information his military carreer in total I would suggest contacting the Militärgeschichtliches Forschungsamt at Potsdam. Overthere you can sometimes copies of interesting bio's often written for the military only. They have a website. The service is free if you're a researcher.

Best from Regulus
