jempie,

Oh, what a thing of delicate beauty that is. Possibly aesthetically equivalent to a Bleriot XI. Thank you for posting that.

Sorry for your scanning and saving difficulties.

Hmmm. They want an aviatrix to do the maiden voyage. Sounds tempting. Think it'll fly?
AAC Cadet Leader,
I'd watchout. From the looks of that contraption I'd guess the person who suggested a woman fly it is a member of the "He-man woman haters club"

timjnf,

Ha! You might be right.

Ever think of adding another vowel or two to your name? Not to imply that timjnf is not a nice name. Just a little hard to pronounce, that's all.

Another Ornithopter brought to my attention by Jempie. 1909 is my guess.

System Dubois-Riant

Not the eccentric novelty design you expect from an ornithopter but a very elegant machine with wings similar to the 1908 Levavasseur Gastambide-Mengin monoplane imo. The tail reminds me of Moisant's 1909 Aluminium biplane.

Rod,
Wow! Where did you find that?? Never seen anything like it!

Was Moisant any relation to the very fetching Matilde Moisant?

Fetching ?... now you're getting into Harriet Quimby territory !

Yes, John Moisant was the older brother of Matilde Moisant. Brother to Alfred Moisant. Collectively known as the Magnificent Moisants.

Actually Jempie sent it to me. ...Leaving the grueling task of translating the accompanying French text up to moi !

You did it marvelous well!
