Anyone know what type of aircraft was the prevalent one used by the signal corps?

How many different types did the US have?

What was the primary trainer prior to an airman heading over to Europe?

Thanks.

Hi !
Should say go once to :

http://www.upafb.af.mil/museum/history/preww1/cof27.htm

Into the preaviation period it was a ballooning unit and for more 1908 they aquaired the Baldwin military airship....
Than the Wright Military Flyer (1908-09) and Wright B (1910)
Signal Corps n° 8 seems to have been a Curtis puscher...(1912)

No idea if there is a list with all following timeline!

The 1908-1921 serial number list will give some idea of the various aircraft used. I found it will looking for info on the Martin TT. att.net/~jbaugher/1908-1920.html" target="_blank">http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/1908-1920.html
