Did you know?

Did you know that Corporal Frank Scott was the first US military enlisted casualty killed in an aircraft accident in 1912 at College Park Airport in College Park, Maryland. College Park Airport was where Wilbur Wright set up camp in 1909 to teach Army Officers to fly and is the oldest continuously operating airport in the world. Now you know.

And to my knowledge, Scott AFB is the only U.S. Air Force Base named after an enlisted man.

Yeah, the USAF likes officers names better! Being retired Navy, I can say that a number of ships were named after enlisted men--the Sullivans comes to mind and several named after Hospitalcorpsmen that died in combat.
