Curtiss/Ely Pusher Progress
Gents: A second thread update for the Curtiss Pusher under construction here. The wing center section panels are glued up, as are the ash engine bearers, lower keel, seat frame and front diagonals. The single forward elevator is in the glue jig now, with the rudder next. Starting now on the steel tubing for the gear and center section bracing. I will post some pics when we get the center section up on its wheels.
This week, I visited Hammondsport with Vet Thomas. We were given a comprehensive tour of the Curtiss Museum restoration shop by Art Wilder, even got to lend a hand mounting the wing panels on the "Albany Flier" Pusher. Art said the plan is still on track to fly this plane this summer or fall. There is a Curtiss Museum event in September (I believe the 19th) when the "America" will again fly off the lake and Art said the Albany Flier might take flight then, but to keep checking for updates. If your plans allow, that would be the place to be in September! I heartily recommend any and all hands join the Museum and support their endeavors!
How do I post photos on this thread? I have some of the Museum, if anyone is interested. Bob

The method of posting pictures on the Forum Aerodrome is called linking. The idea is that the picture is included by linking to another site where the picture is located.
For posting do the following in steps:
- Step 1: use a picture posting site, like for instance Photobucket here, you need to register. This is without costs when you remain between the limits of number of pictures stored
- Step 2: upload your pictures from your machine to photobucket using the uploadmethod of Photobucket
- Step 3: copy the code given by Photobucket for inclusion of a picture in a forum, that is the last code given
- Step 4: include the copied code somewhere in the text of your reply. You will see that when you press the button 'preview post' that the picture appears in the text
Beware that only picture in the jpeg / jpg format can be uploaded.
It looks quite daunting, but when you have done this a few times, you can do it almost automatically. If it does not work for you in this way, please ask.

Curtiss Ely Build Photos
Wing glue up fixture, now modified for 60" wing panels. The 75" panels are completed, the 60" and 30" panels are in work.

Curtiss Ely Update
75" Center Section Wing Panel. West System resin adhesives, Vet Thomas supplied spruce rib blanks, Wicks Aircraft supplied Sitka spruce stock, locally sourced kiln dried ash for laminations. Center section spars are ash laminations, as are the engine bearers, keel beam and front diagonals.

Where did you get 75" for the center panel? The only measurements I've ever seen for the middle section were 60" for the early pusher and 63" for the Hudson Flier and all subsequent pushers. The only larger panels were for the Baldwin "Red Devil" and Willard's "Banshee". At least that's the info I've found.
I like your jig, are there plans for that?
