A 'new' view of the Skoglund monoplane has recently come for auction on ebay, only this time it is identified as a Wright brothers prototype (sic).

1910 Los Angeles California Wright Brothers prototype plane real photo postcard! | eBay

Same day again. The camera is in the exact position as the other photo I posted: Breguet's Pre-1914 Aircraft ID Challenge #397 and the book photo showing Ezra Meeker and one of his oxen standing off to the side.

Both postcards are cropped identically. I take it then this is the full frame of the negative and any more of these outdoor studio sittings probably wouldn't show more of the half-hidden aileron. Although, this shot has the best view of the background so far of the three known, revealling a wide break between the fence and what may be a bridge. Eventually this will helpful in locating the exact spot at the meet the Skoglund monoplane was set up for viewing and getting one's photo taken on it - if I ever come across a map of the grounds detailed and accurate enough to show these landmarks.

Cheers

Somebody was earning some money by taking pictures of visitors to the LA Show, maybe it was Skogland.

At the back of the postcard is written
Los Angeles Cal, Feb. 7, 1910.
Hello! What do you think of one of the "Wright Bros" (can you tell which one) just after alighting from a flight in an aeroplane Aviation ??? on Jan 19th, 1910.
"Snapped by a newspaper reporter".

Notice something flashing (?) in the craft of the aviator flight 8travagant (? extravagant ?) ?? to be "????".

I probably mentioned earlier in this lengthy thread that another picture of the Skogland in the book on the 1910 Los Angeles Air Meet (p.45). The Skogland monoplane is here seen in a row of four machines, all of which are not identified in the caption.

The fourth machine at the back is also a monoplane like the Skogland with the same sort of stability flap above the wing. What can be seen of the machine looks different in detail from the Skoglund monoplane.

The caption quotes that the airplanes pictured were being assembled outside along the boundary. Part of a tent can just be seen at the left.

I'm surmising that "along the boundary" must have meant outside the frame to the left of this attached balloon-view. IIRC a tent and another structure were up there. Or rather, down there. I believe we're looking south-west in this photo, putting the local "aerial oddities" the likes of Klassen and Skoglund further past the south end of the field than what we're able to see here.
