The best way to check the longeron lengths is how you built it. Flip it on it back and bring a square up to it.

Good luck

Did you guys use heat to taper the sides together at the tail or bend cold?

Thanks

Pete

Jim and I bent it cold, you just need to bend it past where you want it, to allow for spring back.

Weld Inspection

Good news on the fuselage front. Today I was graced by an inspection visit from a local EAA guy who has welded 4 fuselages and flies a Skybolt (Pitts type home built). He also welds with gas, hence my desire to have him look at my welds. We spent about a half an hour talking and inspecting my "baby". I passed with flying colors, the welds had good penetration with the joining metals. I didn't over do it or under do it (sounds like the 3 bears, oh well). We spent time discussing distortion and some of projects he had accomplished. He gave me the "green light" to finish my crate. Overall a good day working and I am quite happy with my work. Now comes the fun part to finish weld the entire fuselage - oh my back.

Hello Jim,

Seeing your basement "missuse" I was instantly reminded of my first triplane I built when I was seventeen.

Space appears always to be an issue!

Keep up the great work. It looks phantastic.

Joepilot, congratulations!

Cheers!
