Update

Hi all,

I've been busy making the interplane strut brackets to help in aligning spars and fuselage. It seemed to go together without much adjustment required. Dropped some plumb lines to check stagger and used the good ol' Smart level to check incidence and lateral level. The wood part of the struts are just temporary plywood until I can get some decent Douglas Fir to make the real thing with.

Also made the throttle. Thanks to Fokker210 for the ratchet and Jeff Brooks for the brass riveting info.

progress @ Hangar 1

Fritz and I worked on our aircraft yesterday. He finish welded my horiz stab for priming, and I worked on attaching the trailing edge wire and copper pieces on my upper wing. I also built up his inner ribs on his lower wing- next step will be to add leading edge ply. Once done, we hung up the wings- here's the photo.

Does anyone know how to best terminate the trailing edge wire? Does it simply end with the soldered point at each end? Or does it continue past the copper a little, and bend inward, flush with the side of the end rib?

Jim

Redfern Back Online.

This just in from the estate of the Redferns:

Dear Jim, Wanted top let you know that we have finally got our Web site back online (http://redfernplans.com/). We have been working issues with our mother's estate and making sure everthing was ready before we can back with the plans.
We have also found other plans but have not gone through them at this time. There may be a chance that we will be able to also offer the D-VI. Last bird Dad built before his death.
These are for the experience builder as Dad had to fill in many gaps with the drawings. They are not for the beginner!!
Do not know if you know others that might have been looking but hopefully the word will get out.
Thanks,
Dan & Floyd Redfern

Jim,

This is about the best photo I can find with this detail. Still not sure about the wire end though.
