The taper is cut before joining the splices. The only time I had to run a 21 foot length through the saw was when trimming off 1/8" as indicated on the drawing.

Did you say sheet #27. My set only goes up to sht. #26. I'll contact Ron Jr. and ask him to send me that sheet. I'm sure I did not loose #27. I just never got it. I'll ask him if Sht. 27 was always part of the plan set from day one.

I'm glad I asked and got a reply regarding splices. I'm sure the taper cut will be very easy now. I read that about the 1/8" cut.

Butch:

Excellent idea regarding those cuts. Good way to make sure you get it right the first time. That's what always scares me about wood. Too much and it's in the garbage it goes. Check , re-check and check again.

Many thanks to all !!

You should have 31 sheets plus an 8 page materials list.

Thanks a mil

I just wrote Ron and asked for those other sheets and the cost.

On another note. Have you been to Ron's web site lately. There is a Triplane powered by a Seimens 7 cylinder engine. It's the Rusconi Triplane. The engine looks like it fits in a very shallow cowl. Similar to a Warner. Does anyone know anything about these engines. Are they hard to find ? Are parts hard to get, etc. I have no information on them and can't find any. I guess that's not a good sign.

If you bought your set of drawings from Ron or Ron Jr and did not get the entire set, the missing drawings should be free.

If you got them somewhere else, then watch out for some fallout from Ron Jr.

Dogtail2 is right, the flanges are spliced at the center of the spar and again at the point towards the wing tips where the interplane struts are located (if you go by the plans). My story is similar in the fact that I only had to wrestle the full length of the spars through a saw when I made my 1/8" reduction cuts.

As far as cutting the tapers on the flanges, this is how I did it.....
This was my simple taper jig for the middle section of the spar flanges.

And my jig for the long flange tapers......
Just a long piece that allowed me to clamp the flange in at an angle. The whole thing was then fed straight into the saw.

The blade made a nice smooth cut. Interesting little clamps. Apparently they hold things together pretty tight. Very nicely done. Did you flip down those Aluminum angles. Aren't they the same ones you used to make your spar's. Hope this help's somewhat is an understatement. It helped tremendously. Photo's and description very much appreciated.

I did buy my set from Ron many years ago. I talked with him on the phone before and after I bought them. I thought I got a complete set. Ron Jr. is out of town and will be back this weekend and we'll get it all straightened out then. I would prefer not to pay anything further if the additional drawings are considered necessary to the construction of the airplane (which it sounds like they are) and not engine installation instructions.

Many thanks !
