As a matter of fact yes I was commenting on those screw down clamps. I lead a sheltered life and I've never seen those before. I have not had an occasion to need them. They do look handy and will spawn other ideas I'm sure.

Turnbuckle & Control Cable placements

Revisiting this subject again.

I am placing 6 turnbuckles into the empennage's control cable circuit (one at each control horn) though Ron's plans do not show these. It's obvious you need them to tune the tension. I have the two he does show which are attached to the control horns on the tube which connects the rudder assembly to the control column assembly. Now, is there one more turnbuckle in the aileron circuit- in the cable that crosses within the upper wing from one aileron to the other? If not, then that is a particulary critical tension to have and therefore a very critical cable length- without a turnbuckle you run the risk of the ailerons being in an overall higher or lower position than neutral actually is. I am assuming that there are NOT also turnbuckles on the aileron control horns, or why have them inside the cockpit...

Again, just confirming the placement of these control circuit turnbuckles- sorry to make it sound more complicated than it is.

Jim

Jim,

You should have 3 turnbuckles in the aileron circuit.
2 in the cockpit and 1 in the wing.

Thank you Pete- that's exactly what I thought.

How are things going? I plan to fit my wings to the fuse next weekend, weather willing. Photos forthcoming!

Jim good luck with the wing fitting.

Thing going well so far. Today I flew over to Sywell airfield to take a look at a friend's Tripe. Flew formation with it for a while on the return trip. Took a couple of photos whilst flying formation. Unfortunately my hand must have moved the camera mode switch while being buffeted by the 100mph wind and flying the aeroplane at the same time, so the airborne shots were ruined. Will try again another day.

Hi Pete,

The shots look great- must have been a real treat to fly alongside one of our planes!
