Machine Gun Cooling Jackets
I have full scale drawing for laying out the holes in the cooling jackets if anyone is interested. These were created by Artist Ken Kotik in St. Peters Mo for his guns. They will save you a lot of time and frustration. Let me know if you want a copy.

Laser Cut Parts
Vintage,
Thanks for the laser cut parts sourcing info. Could you provide for everyone here contact info? Also, do you have pricing confirmed for all the parts? Fritz and I will be building our spars in the next month or two. As I have my ribs already done, the offer of wing brackets and fittings is especially attractive for me. Your making rib pieces may be really good news for him!
How much to make a fuselage? =-)
Thanks!
Jim

cowling
Hey, change of subject here but....
I was wondering what the rest of you guys are going to do about cowlings? I mean, if you are going to use a radial, how are you going to get cooling air to the top cylinders? I have seen some pics of radial powered Dr1's that had the middle section of the cowling cut out, and that strikes me as just a little odd looking. Not in a terrible way of course, but is that the only option?
Thanks.
Monty

Hello Airfour,
Here's a badly cropped photo of a Jacobs powered Dr1.
Hope that this gives you some idea(s).

Hello Maxim,
Yes that is what I was talking about, the center cut out of the cowling, I was wondering if there were other options for radial powered versions? I dont think it looks terrible to cut the center out, I was just wondering if anyone had done something else about cooling the upper cylinders.
Thanks!

A New Guy
Gentlemen,
I am about to embark on the joys of building a Dr. 1. I am planning on purchasing Ron's plans from his son for my birthday in April. I know that it is difficult to ask pilot's for their opinion, but I believe the group can handle this "difficulty". All kidding aside, please give me your advise and recommendations as this will be the first aircraft I have built.
I have never been a part of an online group or whatever a "thread" is, so a quick education on the do's & dont's would be a great help.
Thank you for your assistance.

Joe just put your head down and charge. Good luck in your project. This is the place to ask questions when you run into a snag (and you will). Hopefully we will have our Dr.I flying by late spring, early summer. This is an artists rendition of its final appearance
