Sheet Metal

Sgt Pepper,
I have not made it to the point of fabricating any meaningful pieces of sheet metal yet but would be very appreciative of any information you could provide in the way of templates, drawings, etc.

At this point, I am still laboring away on the spars but hope to get into a higher gear soon - the workshop is mighty cold this time of year !

photo updates from Hangar 1

Hangar 1 has been busy! Fritz & I have begun working on my fuselage in earnest- you can see his fuselage suspended above the work table, where mine is laid out. We tack welded the front halves of the 2 sides over this past weekend, and will complete the rear halves this coming weekend- might even get to welding in the cross members.

Webbed in spar flanges are almost done on both planes- just the lower set of Ed's to finish. Then we will order and install the hardware needed before the final boxing in.

Stay tuned!

I'll take some pictures and make some working drawing on my next visit to Kingsbury. Glad to help get this fleet of Dr.1 aloft.

Finished fuselage this weekend. All controls, and instruments are in. Brakes installed, cables, seatbelts, etc.
Also finished with graphics (serial number, N-numbers, etc)
Will start assembling the wing parts this next weekend.
Already located another engine and struck a deal with the guy. I'm shooting for having the wings finished by late summer, engine in and running by early fall, and able to fly in a local southern California airshow during the "07" airshow season.
Here is a recent pic.

Looks great Vongrube and Joepilot,

Where did you get the details for the smaller stenciling on the rudder and in other places?

We have the information we need to do the serial number and weights, but would like to include some of the other details?

Can anyone help with information in this area?

Cheers

Ed
