Dr1 for sale??

Hi guys,

New to the forum so thanks for having me. I'm the very proud owner of a 7/8ths Se5a based near London England. Trouble is she looks very alone in the hanger and I'd love a Dr1 to keep her company. Anyone know of any for sale??

Appreciate any leads...

Regards

Taifun

Well, if you are not in a hurry :-)

Rudolf, one of our members, just started to build two full size triplanes. He will do it from our drawings and of these actually one will be for sale when finished.

Cheers!

Thanks guys,

Well I have a Warner Scarab in the barn waiting for the rest!! People tell me however that the 145hp won't be man enough. Has anyone here flown a Dr1 with a 145 Scarab?

Thanks again

I've got some time in Brian Coughlin's Triplane with a 125 Warner, and it flew fine.

Wink Coughlin's Tripe

I saw Brian's Dr-1 at an away airshow representing Old Rhinebeck. Yes indeed, this a/c flies beautifully on its 125 Warner! I don't think it rolled 200' and it was off the ground and climbed out like a homesick angel! And watching it being put through its paces, it seemed to me that this engine is MORE than adequate pulling a Dr-1 through the air. This was about two or three years ago, and the pilot was the late Darren Banfield. In my opinion, this 125 Warner Dr-1 flies rings around the 220 Continental Tripe that has flown at Old Rhinebeck since, I believe, 1993. But, I would settle on owning either one, beggars can't be choosers!

Dr-1's Forever!

RFC formation

Bide your time Taifun.

In a year or so, we'll have a BE-2c replica for you to escort, at very least!

More seriously, having seen the way Warner engined Nieuports go, I don't think a lack of power would be any problem in a DR-1 replica!
