Where are they?

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forums here so please forgive me if I should be looking somewhere else for this information. I am an aviation photographer and I'm working on a book for beginning enthusiasts about warbirds. I suggested to the editor that we narrow it down to warbirds that are still flying or replicas that are. The book will cover mostly WWII which I have pretty well covered plus WWI and current birds. I had planned to fly with a pal out to Old Rhinebeck this weekend after last weekend's rain out but it looks like this week will be out too so I'm heading the other direction to Southern California to shoot current planes at the Miramar Air Show. So here's my question to you all, does anyone know of any WWI planes in private hands that are flying that are in So.California?
Thanks for any information you can provide. By the way, I also create a monthly pictorial cyber magazine that features warbirds called-

There will be images of the National CAF Airsho up there soon.

Thanks Buzzard, unfortunately I'm flying commercial so no stops in Tulsa without a parachute. I've heard of a guy in Hampton Iowa that has some and I'll be checking that out by car I imagine.

Javier Arango has an extensive collection in Pasa Robles, California. He lives in Los Angeles.

To follow up on this, I got Javier Arango's office number and left a message but wasn't able to follow up on it over the weekend because I was busy shooting the Miramar Air Show and then it rained on Monday etc. so I left
a message with his secretary that I wouldn't be making the five hour drive up. I don't mind going upside down in a biplane but I'm practically terrified to call wealthy people on the phone to ask them if I can shoot their planes, it as good practice for me even though I never got to talk to him in person. Meanwhile, I met up with a friend who is an F-18 Hornet pilot with the Marines and got some good behind the scenes pictures. Also, the October/November edition of http://minnesotawing.com/ is now on the cyber stands and features images from the huge WWII CAF airshow in Midland Texas at the beginning of this month. Please stop by and take a peak if you like seeing the "new" birds as well.

Lists of WWI aircraft

Hi Max;
Welcome aboard! Leo Opdycke's "WWI AERO" has been keeping, publishing, and updating all the lists you are interested in, for forty years now. It has been keeping track of all existing WWI survivors, replicas, repros in private and public hands (flying and non-flying)and also keeping track of all the projects in progress. It is exceptional because they usually publish the contact address and information of most of those involved. It is the ONE aviation publication I most look forward to-out of some 100 or so, I receive from all over the world. It COULD use some fresh blood-if only in a subscriber membership-as we need to keep replacing the old-timers who have left us.. I heartily recommend that you subscribe..I contacted this forum to see if they can restore the missing link to WWI AEROs web-link, on this forum (upper left-"links) that seemed to be missing at the time I post this. If not try calling Leo at 1 845-473-3679..or write him at:
WWI AERO; 15 Crescent Rd; Poughkeepsie NY 12601
A years full of WWI photos and news (both original and modern repro) WWI aircraft photos, dwgs, history, museum reports and much much more, is only a tax-deductible $42. How're you gonna beat that with some 476 pages a year?

I'll have to do that, thanks for the idea. Here's the link that I found-
http://www.aviation-history.com/ww1aero.htm

Unfortunately they have given me until only the middle of January to finish this book. I will have to depend on others for images of WWI planes in flight.
