Albatross D3 Replica

Greetings to all.It is my intention to build a fully operational, full scale Albatross d3 fighter of the WW1 era.I have only begun the research and have found it rather difficult to obtain plans or blue prints for the said aeroplane.I would very much appreciate any advice .Best regards,S.M.P.Sparks

Albatros D.III

You'll want to track down Koloman Mayrhofer in Austria. He's building/built an extremely accurate Albatros D.III (Oef) 253 series fighter. It is a beauty. The german version was slightly different. Do a search on the site here and you'll be able to track down and send him a message.

I have a friend in Texas who's building and Kohlman helped him tremendously. He's also using the Teachman DII plans for the fuselage since they are almost identical. I too am beginning to build a DIII and am where you are. I have the Teachman plans so really all one needs is wing stuff.

The wings were the same for the Albatros D.Va. Since there are two originals in Australia and the US NASM, you should be able to track those down.

Two originals in Australia?
I know about D5390/17 is there another? Or do you just mean two sets of wings?

I have some photo's of the wing structure of the 'Australian' Albatross when it was refurbished in the 1960"s but lack the technical ability to post them.
If anyone here wants to post them send me a message with your email address and I'll forward them on for all, to enjoy.
