Question I have a question:

Hello, Gents:

If a person wanted to volunteer to help, in any way possible, a builder with their replica, how does one go about this?

I ask as I am completely naive about this.
But seeing these builds is thrilling.

Are volunteers accepted or are these builds usually Inside Jobs?

How would one go about helping out a local build in one's area?

thanks in advance -

Well, in my case I just offer to drop on by in my workshop.

There is always something to do.

I have several volunteers working with me after hours.

The only thing I ask for is to show some interest in the work and to be a bit handy

I run a one man business here and all others you see in the images posted in the FTS thread are friends and volunteers.

If you are interested yourself, you do not even have to come to my workshop, since you are certainly too far away. Just tell me what you want to make and you can do it at your place.

The point is: just ask those folks and most of them certainly will have something to do for you.

Cheers!

Achim

Hey Barker,

Same thing applies around the museum I work with. We're always happy to have volunteers to help out on the aircraft. Lots of opportunity to learn especially on major projects like our current DRI rebuild.

So in short... if you know of any projects in your neck of the woods, or can find any via the aerodrome just ask the builder/organization. Many are often happy to have help.

Cheers

Ed

Wink "do you take people with failing eyesight?"

Thank you fellas - was thinking as much...

I'd wondered if a novice would be turned away but I see there is always something to do!

Compared to even ten years ago, there seems to be a tremendous amount of incredible work going on. It's really something to see.
