need german anemometer images

Hello,

My winter project is to make a repro german wing mounted anemometer. I need some images of the piece so I can cast/machine the aluminum body. Does anyone have some photos they'd be willing to email to help out?

thanks

Douwe

Can't find the photos I took of it (about 5 years ago) but you might try Dick Enos in California, who bought a new one from me for his Fokker D.VII.

Douwe, I have a number of external views of several anemometers which I will be glad to email in a few hours when I get home. I suspect the internal mechanism is an adaptation of the tachometer system (an inclined ring which tries to move into the plane of rotation as the rpms increase.) Does anyone have a picture of the internal components??
There are going to be all sorts of people who will want an anemometer type airspeed indicator.

Hi everyone,

I can't thank you guys enough for your help. Machinebird sent me more photos than I could imagine and we're set now.

I am making a couple for myself and some friends. The first one will be tested on a aircraft for a while to see if everything works as intended. The internals will be modern electronics but the outside will look pretty close to the original. the housing will be cast aluminum and the dial face should be pretty accurate. there will be a few differences but as few observable ones as I can attain. They should read up to about 150 or 160mph.

If it works out as planned I would be willing to make a batch. They couldn't be sold as aircraft instruments, but I would let someone have one for yachting purposes. The innards are top of the line and rather pricey so the entire unit won't be cheap, but you only need one right? and it sure gets rid of a lot of plumbing for a pitot system.

so, yeah, anyone intersted, give me a heads up on my personal email and I'll make a list and give you updates and send photos as this progresses. I'm a sculptor so the metal working will happen quickly and I already have the mechanism going.

Thanks again all!

Douwe
