Sopwith Camel

DOes anyone know someone who still flies a Sopwith Camel still? Looking to make a retired USAF officer's dream come true. Please email me at jamespesta@yahoo.com.

jppbt,
Not really sure I understand the question. The folks at the Rhinebeck airfield in New York fly them all the time.
Otherwise, you may need to check the FAA registry for individuals in the U.S. who own one.
Are you just looking for a Camel to show off to your friend? Check the internet for the closest air museums or upcoming airshows.
Keep in mind. The Camel is a rare creature..even the replicas. Good luck!

flying camels

Rhinebeck's camel is now a static display ... no workie, and I understand Fred Murin's camel is flying with an original engine.

Ahh...
Thats a shame about the Rhinebeck Camel. Any plans of them getting that machine up and back flying, or at least another one?
I think I saw a replica Camel fly once..but I was only a kid at the time.. The closest museum to home here has a Pup though. And its a museum that flys their collection every weekend! So hopefully Ill see the Pup fly soon!.

Rhinebeck's Camel is worse than a static display, it was wrecked this spring when a new pilot tried to fly it.
There is a Warner powered Camel that just was sold in Wisconsin, it went to a new owner in Florida, I think at the Spruce Creek Air Park in Daytona. I think the guy also has a Fokker Triplane.
What museum near Apple Valley has a Pup?

There's a Warner powered Pup at the Chino Air Museum here in CA, plus a Dr1, a Bristol F2B , a Fokker D7, and a French Hanriot.
