The plane is powered by an inverted Gypsy Queen. Adjustments have been made to the carbs and exhaust and next up is modifying the oil system.

attach points.

in the bg are peices of many more future projects.

More detail of the engine to come.

I hope this inspires a full size picture of it in Hippert's scheme!
And, thanks Charlie D!

That's one great looking model, Gary
All it needs is to be covered in dust and spider webs and it would look exactly like the one at the Aerodrome. LOL
Tell me about the color scheme. I never bothered to ask if the plane's paint job was inspired by an actual plane. I just assumed the name on the top wing was the client's wife.
As you can tell, I am a newby volunteer.
One last point I should mention. Like the Ranger L440, when this engine is inverted the cylinder exhaust port stumps are on the left. But this engine spins the propeller COUNTER clockwise. So unlike the Ranger (where the prop spins clockwise) the exhaust pipe is better suited on the left (rather than wrapping up and around to the correct-looking right side) because the prop wash pulls the hot exhaust gases down and away from the pilot's face.
thanks for the pix.

This full size D.VII's scheme is based upon Vzfw. Wilhelm Hippert's, of Jasta 74. This EXCELLENT model of it was built by the very talented Charles Duckworth. I acquired it from Charlie.
I see that their cowl still has the 'apple-green' paint primer, awaiting the eventual blue paint finish.
Here are a few more pictures of the model:

Downscope
Just surfacing from a long 3 years of school and thought I'd post a few pictures of the Dr.I we have close to finishing. Hopefully we will remount the LeRhone soon. "Celebrity builders" picture #1 is Carl Canga (Sgt. Pepper), yours truly (Wolfenbill) and Ted Dawson. Picture #2 shows Roger Freeman inspecting the nose and yours truly trying to find a tool in the toolbox, a constant problem (they have legs). Picture #3 is the top wing. Pictures courtesy of Tom Gaylord.
The livery is a consolidation of several ideas and some designs from the past. It doesn't represent any one particular plane in WWI. The one thing we don't want is an all-Red one.

Does anybody know about moving a building
There is an old hanger in central Austin on a piece of land that has just been sold. I'd like to have it moved so this piece of aviation history is not lost. I've filed a "historical landmark" application with the state, but this hanger is only from the 1930s so it probably wont meet the requirements. Does anybody know about costs associated with moving a structure like this? And better yet, are their state historic funds for this kind of undertaking.

We need Tom to send us the pix from yesterday. Roger tipped the plane on it's nose so we could attach the top wing.
