New / old engine

I was flipping through the latest edition of "ClassicWings' magazine

http://www.classicwings.com/

down the beach last week during the Christmas break and read something that might be of interest to you lot.
At Omaka (New Zealand) last Easter at the 'Classic Fighters Airshow' an original BE2e was on display that was nearing restoration. Good news in itself but the aircraft was fitted with a new build RAF1a engine. It appears the original engine was in such poor condition that it was decided to remake the entire engine. Thats a lot of work so they decided to build 3 for better economy of scale.
So in the not too distant future a BE2e will be gracing the skies of NZed not only looking great but sounding fantastic as well.
I can only guess who financed this as no full names were mentioned but the editor thanked 'Peter' for the vision and commitment for itheir building.
Now if only 'Peter' would build a few Mercedes engines (10+ would be a good start and sling one my way would be nice ) for all the new DVII out there....

Someone recently offered to make Merc DIII engines for a few well funded builders at 100K + each, not a bad price for a one off work of flying art ...... but no one stepped up to the plate I guess even Peter's dudes could not handle the price. Maybe Kong revenue will change that, hope so. Don't see it happening soon

He'd also need something to put it in. I haven't heard anything about DVIIs or Albatros' being built in NZ so far... (or other suitable German birds calling for a Mercedes DIII)

Replica engines

Hello all
Im looking at building a replica of a Gnome rotary 7 cylinder. Anyone have any idea of drawings? The engineering isnt difficult for me and I have access to an original Bleriot fitted with one.
Twist my arm and I might even do your Benz.......
