Vickers Images

Here are a few links to some Vickers images.

The a/c gun is an 11mm version. If anyone knows how to have the images 'appear' within the post, please let me know.

There is a button (with the mountain) that you click, then put the URL in there.

That will put up the image into the post, like this.

Omega-- The Vickers Mark 1* was an aircraft variant developed for the Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter in 1916. The standard water jacket was punched with louvers to allow air circulation. Weight with Constantinescu interrupter gear was 28 pounds.
The Mark 11 was a variation with a smaller jacket, also louvered. Introduced in 1917. Weight 22 pounds.

My understanding is that on US manufactured examples the louvres at the muzzle end of the jacket open to the front so as to act as an air scoop (see camel54.jpg as posted by Maxim08), whereas those of British manufacture had both sets of louvres opening to the rear of the weapon.

Just a minor detail that may be of interest to some....

Vickers

Thank You all for the valuable information. I currently have some Vickers parts for trade including a Vented Colt Vickers jacket as seen in the previous photos. I am looking specifically for a Vickers fluted jacket either with or without the aircraft vents. Send me an email. I enjoy chatting about these old parts!

Burro!
