Jeff,
I've been wondering about the Aeroflex museum aircraft. On the FAA registry they show a DVII, a Spad VII, and a Maurice Farman MF-11.

When I search for info about the Aeroflex museum... I find stuff that says it closed... a long time ago.

Anyway... I was wondering if you knew anything about the place or that particular DVII?

That entry must be a thousand years old. Alot of the airplanes from the Tallmantz auction in '68 eventually ended up in the Aeroflex museum, which itself has been belly up for years and years (I think). That Farman has been in Canada for ages and that Fokker is a real one and is the one that went to the Netherlands where it lives today- the one seen tootling around southern California in the '60s in faux Udet markings- it had a Hisso back then, since replaced with a Mercedes.

Looking at the database it says the last action was in 1982... so I figured it was probably a dead registration. Thanks for the update

Jeff,

Don't forget the magnificent French Memorial Flight's D VII.
The only one using a BMW as far as I know.
Imagine all these planes in one big formation

Cap strips

Hey Jeff I really have enjoyed reading about your progress on the DVII. On your cap strip cracking issue, you could make the cap strips a laminate of 2 or even 3 pieces, It would bend easier and be stronger than a single piece.

David, Thanks for the interest!
I saw Achim make a capstrip for his landing gear fairing using a laminating process with good success. But, he suggested I not do this for the wing rib though, as it is not original and he questioned the strength. So I continue to struggle with this method.
So far, I have soaked the capstrip in ammonia & cold water, next time ... I will steam it with ammonia to see if the results vary. I will post the results (of course).
