my other planes ...

I thought I'd post some of my other planes ... although they are not WW1 planes, they fly at the same altitudes and airspeeds.
I miss the cobra ... MOTHBALLED!

This was the upgrade ... they were nice too!

Still flying these ... we are coming back from Hurricane Katrina here

Great progress Jeff!

My boys liked the images of the Cobra!

Keep it coming and disregard those who may jump on it. All I can see is you are doing a good job.

Cheers!

Thanks Achim

Thanks for the kind words Achim,
Actually the picture of the landing gear posted is just a test piece. I don't like the way it's lining up and the welds aren't my best either (It's been a while since I welded). so I will buy more metal and try again.
I noticed on your post that there was a line drawn on the top of the axle box to note how far the streamlined tubing was allowed to overlap on the box. The drawing in WW1 Aero #168, page 102, shows the tubing overlapping at 20mm on the front & 17.5mm on the back.
The Replicraft drawings show the widest part of the streamlined tube lining up at 46mm below the top of the axle box.

As this piece may have to take quite a load on landings ... I am interested in what you think is the most accurate?
P.S. I like the Cobra too ... It was my favorite!

Hello Jeff,

I can hardly comment on the welding fromthe images you posted, but it appears to be pretty well done, even if its just a test piece.

I´ll send you a scan of my D.VII undercarriage drawing so that you may see how I do it.

Cheers!

Achim

progress

I worked on the landing gear today, this one welded up better, and things seemed to line up better. I think the last one migrated when it was heated out of the jig.

I also made some axle box openings for Maximum08.
